Volunteer Restoration Workday

Do you enjoy the out-of-doors and the chance to work directly with the land? Then we've got the thing for you – our monthly workday. On the second Saturday of each month, volunteers help us steward one of two special sites owned by Libertyville Township.  These places are so ecologically valuable they're part of the Illinois Nature Preserve system. We provide tools and instruction, and volunteers help with projects such as weed control, seed collecting and planting. Trust us: it’s not too intense, and you’ll enjoy meeting other like-minded people. We meet the second Saturday of every month, 9 a.m. to noon, at either Oak Openings in Grayslake or Liberty Prairie in Libertyville. Wear jeans and boots; we’ll bring gloves, water and nourishment. Registration is suggested but not mandatory. Contact Us December 13 - Oak Openings January 10 - Oak Openings February 14 - Oak Openings Oak Openings The parking area for Oak Openings is located on the east side of Route 45, 1/2 mile south of Route 120 and just north of Casey Rd.
